Like many blogs, Madre de mi alma (Mothers Soul in english) is managed by many authors.  The new custom design is clean, simple and ideally suited towards their own beautifully crafted gifts, some of which you can buy online.

This project was a Blogger to WordPress conversion with a custom theme design.

Making it Real!

One of the reasons that owners prefer to  advertise their own properties, is they can write the description, add their own photos or professionally taken and more importantly modify details at any time and receive the contact form themselves.

I”ve made so many real estate agent websites in the last 10 years, but this one is more personal. You are talking to the actual owner and not an agent who’s mostly just interested in their commission. Since the launch of this site back in August, owners have been raving about how great the site is and they even celebrated their first sale from the website. Congratulations!

I personally love the idea of having a video that takes you on a virtual tour of the interior and exterior. Great idea for those who dont have a lot of time to visit or live abroad. You can also upload an unlimited amount of photos and write as much description as possible.

The Tenerife Property Owners community is growing real fast . You can join them on Facebook and Twitter.

The author of this great blog SandeeA wanted to keep the large photos but also keep the design clean and tidy. Designing a website or blog theme for a client is never easy and you must guide the client into the right direction but at all times listen to what your client wants.

In the end the design worked perfectly for the blog. The great photography by SandeeA plays a major part on the homepage and really makes her previous recipes stand out in a more confident way. You can now search through the entire catalog of recipes as well as browsing all the recipes.

With all these images on the homepage its vital that the text links are also prominent together with the options to share her recipes via Facebook, Twitter and Google and keep her subscribers happy.

With a huge following form the Blogger network, Facebook and Twitter, Bea needed more of a hands on roll with her blog, something Blogger just cant do, so Bea asked me to convert El Rincon de Bea from Blogger to WordPress.

I was amazed at the amount of comments and visitors (web stats) from a blog that is just a hobby. I know many blogs for huge companies that dont even get a quarter of  Bea’s…Impresionante!

When dealing with a blog that has a huge social following, you have to be very aware of what improvements can be made without displacing readers, thats the last thing you want. The actual design came together very well and I’m so pleased that both the author Bea and her culinary followers like the new layout, design and features.

I introduced an Amazon Shop built into the actual site design. I did keep the two column layout but decreased the content area and increased the sidebar column widths.

Its so important that your homepage contains lots of text that google spiders can crawl and more importantly, that the actual text changes. Not a problem here as Bea lashes out blog posts whenever she enters her kitchen!  Now it would be boring reading about baking delights and not being able to see the end product right! No worries….. Bea has some very professional photography of every step of her baking methods, how she makes a tin of sweetner look good is beyond me!

The only Big change made was to the main navigation.  Before they were images with no text. That’s no no. I changed them to text links.

Final Thoughts

Personally I am very exited about the future of El Rincon de Bea and even more so of Bea, who is getting to grips with all the new features, widgets that WordPress has to offer.  Good Luck Bea.

There are in fact much better browsers that are free to download. The two biggest being Google Chrome and Mozilla FireFox.

Google Chrome

I love this browser. Its quick to load, nicely presented and renders websites nicely. If you just want to surf the net, then this is your browser. It gets a 9/10 from me.

Mozilla FireFox

This browser is great for web developers like myself. It has tones of nice add-ons and features that just makes like easier. However, its got slower on load speed over the years and you might end up with loads of links bulging out of the toolbar. Ugly. It gets a 8/10 for me.

Internet Explorer

IE, as its commonly called, is like the old dog trying to do new tricks and fails. It tries to keep up with Chrome and FireFox but never makes it. The most depressing thing about IE, is that surfers are still using it without upgrading it. Shocking!

So which is the best? Well ive made my case so its up to you now to try them for yourself. Let me know your comments about these browsers, maybe you have a different story to tell.
